Office terms I can’t stand: “Touch base,” “Can we confirm,” “I’ll headline that,” WTF. Stop.
Now changing gears, I do believe the “what I love” bandwagon is calling my name, just as it did for Sizzle, Brandy, and Brookem. Seriously if you don’t read their blogs what are you waiting for?
I love rainy autumn afternoons spent reading, I love vanilla flavored tea in oversized mugs and lamps that clip to my headboard. I love how standing in line for ice cream instantly makes me feel like I’m 10 again. I love ducking on water rides at amusement parks, and pink cotton candy. I love Mad About You episodes on DVD and how Breakfast At Tiffany’s makes me tear up and clutch my chest at the end. I love the smell of my parent’s house when my mom’s slow cooking something. I love laughing in the morning with Zach, discussing the songs we wake up with and the “I had the weirdest dream last night” discussions.
I love the perfection of a new box of crayons and the way novels smell. I love reading books in bookstores and putting them back on the shelf. I love the way I feel more attractive after a workout. I love conversations with friends that continue as you’re walking away from one another, I love the friends who won’t allow our friendship to dissipate, those friends who remind you that “I love you, and that’s all that matters,” because, really, it is all that matters. I love the possibility of blank books and empty park benches. I love the look of vine covered brick houses, turret rooms and window seats.
I love baths in clawfoot bathtubs, I love pick up softball games, twirling in skirts, and the instant happiness that comes from walking into or out of air conditioned buildings (depending on where you’ve been for too long). I love lilacs and daisies, the smell of a new born’s head and the feel of little fingers in your hand. I love the sleep that happens after a physically demanding day. I love finishing sentences for those people you just “get,” and the way I can ask my roommate to give me “that thing, in the thing, over there” and he’ll hand me exactly what I wanted.
I love “hello beautiful” text messages from Boyfriend, long walks around town at night and telephone conversation economy. I love watching my dad tan on our driveway and the way he watches tv in the kitchen. I love how my mom gets so excited when I bring her hot chocolate and how she tells everyone she knows when a grocery store scans a product incorrectly to benefit the customer. I love the smell of His shaving cream mixed with His cologne. I love the physical evidence of completed paperwork and the satisfaction of putting together material objects. I love discovering the memories that are made when we’re not looking. I love hearing my younger siblings brag about me, and knowing that they wouldn’t believe how much I brag about them.
I love watching a student finally “get it”. I love staying over at other people’s homes, reading their magazines, perusing their pantry, and borrowing their shampoo. I love whispering to my kitty and feeling her purr. I love driving in the summer with the windows down. I love laughing until I cry and singing when no one can hear me. I love the community I’ve found in my own corner of the internet. I love making lists about the people and places and things that I love.

YAY! I love these. I wish I had a clawfoot tub. Alas, my apartment doesn’t have one (though others in the bldg do. Should I evict someone for their bathtub?!).
