Size 6? Only if I cut my size 12’s in half.

Some Top Model Gossip provided by the Lovely Jamie at Oh! How Lovely:
In regards to ANTM winner Whitney:
“They told her that if she went and gained 10-20 pounds they would definitely put her on the show as “the plus-size model”. She’s about a 6 or 8 on the show.”
Damn.
A 6 or 8 and she’s the plus size model?!
I used to think it’d be fun to be a plus size model, but according to Tyra I’d have to be 1 or two sizes smaller than I am now. At a 10/12 I’m too fat to model clothes I’m too thin to wear in most stores.
Can we see the flaw here?

That’s such crap. I thought 14 + is considered a plus size? ANTM is just fucking with our psyches!
I once entered a plus size modeling contest. I didn’t win. Of course. But still, I had a little dream for a bit there.
“Plus” in fashion is consider 8+, I’d say. Normal in fashion is a 2. Obviously, it’s very skewed. But fashion is a completely different world.
It doesn’t do well for us girls with distorted body image issues.
Ugh. That’s ridiculous. I can sort of understand normal as a 2, seeing that the consumers of the clothes can actually be a size 2. But it just seems wrong to use size 8 models for plus size clothing when usually (as far as I’ve seen and I’m no high fashion shopper) the girls shopping in the plus size section are size 14+.
Silliness.
