A Blog of Her Own

Somebody’s gotta be interested in how I feel, just ’cause I’m here and I’m real.

It’s a Survey. Not a Meme. September 2, 2008

Because what the hell is a meme anyway?

A. Attached or Single? Attached. Which is a weird word to describe “in a relationship” but far better than “taken.” Taken makes me cringe, as if I’m a cookie or something.

B. Best Friend? I’m lucky that I have a slew of wonderful people in my life. I can’t pick just one.

C. Cake or pie? Pie. Lemon Sponge. Or pumpkin. Or apple. Or strawberry rhubarb. Or peanut butter. Pie is like ice cream, so many flavors!

D. Day of choice? Thursday. Forever and always. This stems from the fact that when I was little gymnastics class and ER were both  Thursday events.  I can’t lie, I’m devastated that ER is in its last season. But on the bright side, Dr. Carter’s back. Now if they’d just convince Clooney…

E. Essential item? My Mac. After my house burnt down in 2006 I realized that everything can be replaced, but it so sucks to lose months of work. Also, a pen. I need a pen within my reach at all times.

F. Favorite color? I’m going to be lame and say that it’s a three way tie between purple, green and blue. But I really like black too. And hot pink. And red’s nice. Dammit. Let’s just say I don’t like to discriminate.
Except for orange.
I despise orange.

G. Gummy bears or worms? Worms! They’re more stretchy and can easily be made into makeshift rings if you don’t have gummy lifesavers in the house. Yes, I still play with my food. Mashed potato will always be volcanoes and broccoli spears are forever little trees.

H. Hometown? If I told you, I’d have to kill you. The basics: NEPA, big into football, one of those hate-it-when-you-live-there,-miss-it-when-you-leave types.

I. Favorite indulgence? Fresh berries. Rocky road. Reality tv marathons. Cheesecake and Breakfast at Tiffany’s.

J. January or July? July. I have horrible circulation and I think I’m cold-blooded.

K. Kids? Hell no H20. Someday…when I decide I’m tired of sleep and sex and having a life.

L. Life isn’t complete without? Laughter, inspiration, a really great pair of shoes.

M. Marriage date? As in who will accompany me to my marriage? I’d have to guess my future fiancé. Jeez, stop the pressure.

N. Number of brothers and sisters? I have 3 younger brothers. Two of which are teenagers. We never have food in the house.

O. Oranges or Apples? Oranges, but only if they’re clementine. Apples only if they’re green. Both only if they’re cold. I hate warm fruit.

P. Phobias? Sigh. And here is where I feel like a freak. Large fish and whales. I don’t know really why. I think it may have something to do with worrying the huge whale hanging from the ceiling of the Smithsonian museum of natural history was going to fall on top of me. Airplanes suspend from the ceiling? Fine. Birds suspended from the ceiling? Sure. Whales? WTF. NO.

Q. Quotes?
“All the world’s a stage, the play is poorly cast.” Oscar Wilde

“Why can’t all decent men and women call themselves feminists?” –Ani Difranco

“Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?”- Mary Oliver

“Why pretend God’s Victorian?” -Barbara DeCesare

R. Reasons to smile?
I just spend a wonderful weekend with The Boy (and had two weeks worth of sex in 3 days).  I’m not currently at work. Thanks to the Bank of Mom I’m no longer incredibly financially strapped. There are rice krispy/fruity pebble treats in my kitchen. John and Kate Plus 8 is on. The Keira Knightley issue of Vogue is on my coffee table. Life is good.

S. Season of choice? I’m a summer child, but I also really enjoy fall. As soon as the weather starts to get a little colder I’m listening to Nat King Cole on repeat and sighing audibly at everything even remotely romantic. “My boyfriend bought me a soda…awwww!” I also develop strange desires to wear shapeless sweaters and ride a bicycles.

T. Tag 5 people: I won’t push surveys on others, but if you desire, feel free. Also killing two blog-birds with one post, I’ll give you five blogs I enjoy in recognition of Blog Day. Jo and The Professor Formally Known As Zach, who are now dating and living far far away in the land of Filthydelphia. MB, a lovely lady I know from high school. KP a NEPA blogger currently doing good all around the country. And Susie, because how cute are they?

U. Unknown fact about me? Public bathroom behavior. I get possessive over bathroom stalls. By which I mean work/school bathrooms with more than one stall. I actually get a little annoyed when someone’s using the one I normally use, it’s MY stall damnit. Also, if I’m alone, I dance in front of the mirror.

V. Vegetable? Broccoli. Green beans. Rutabaga. Love’m.

W. Worst habit? I’m undecided. But if I’d have to pick one, maybe indecision? Or leaving lights on. I can’t decide.

X. X-ray or Ultrasound? X-ray. Because I’ve had one.

Y. Your favorite food? If I had more time/money, I’d be a foodie. I love food and I love cooking, and thus I can’t adequately answer this question. However, I know that I could eat ice cream every single day and be a happy woman.
A fat woman. But a happy one.

Z. Zodiac sign? Cancer. Which means that I’m Emotional and loving
Intuitive and imaginative, Shrewd and cautious, Protective and sympathetic, Changeable and moody, Overemotional and touchy, Clinging and unable to let go.

If you read my blog regularly you’re nodding in agreement.
