Somebody’s gotta be interested in how I feel, just ’cause I’m here and I’m real.

What Do Werewolves Use On Their Hair? November 17, 2008

Over the weekend The Boy and I got haircuts together. Aside from reaching a new level of cute coupledom I also got chastised by my stylist. Why?

Because of this.

Apparently Suave is some sort of hair sin. I didn’t know! I thought I was looking “smart.”

She forbid me from using it again. I believe her words were, “Dear God, for the love of Jacob* stop with the Suave!” Now, I didn’t bother to ask her what I should use, because obviously she’d be attempting to up sell me on some fancy-dancer designer 20-bucks-a-pop stuff they have in the shop. I realize shampoos are not all created equal, and I’m sure there must be some validity to using higher priced stuff, but I’d rather not have to finance a bottle of shampoo because it’s made of pearls of awesome, fairy dust, and unicorn tears.

So, unSuave ladies, what do you use on your head?

*Even my stylist is obsessed with this Twilight nonsense. She almost convinced me to join the bandwagon. Almost. I may be swayed if someone sends me a copy.

  1. This is funny! I have used Suave too…I think Hairstylists are taught to say that only what they sell is what you should buy!

  2. Amy Says:

That’s kind of weird. My hair girl actually told me to use the Suave Professionals line [that's what she uses], as opposed to the Herbal Essences that I currently use. She said H.E., Dove, and Garnier are the worst to use. And she works in a pretty upscale shop, too, so I’m gonna trust her judgement.

  3. Jamie Says:

I’m a fan of tea tree shampoo.

And seriously, just jump on the bandwagon. You know you want to!

  4. Jessica Says:

I use Herbal Essences. Love it.

PS- Read Twilight. Seriously, you won’t regret it.

  5. m.b. Says:

I use suave. My best friend’s mom was a hairdresser and she said that besides salon-quality shampoo, it’s the best thing for your hair. Pantene is supposedly the worst…

  6. Miss Mariane Says:

I use Tresemee (I’m really not getting up to go look at the bottle so I can spell it correctly) primarily because it came in a massive bottle, and is featured prominently on Project Runway. See, kids? Product placement really IS solid advertising. Anyway, don’t read Twilight. You will regret it. But if you’re really curious, you can borrow my copies when I get them back from my other friend.

  7. Tristus Says:

whole foods or trader joe’s brand shampoo and conditioner. no artificial chemicals. I know everything on the list. plus they are only like 3 bucks. 2 if you go with trader joe’s. I’ll stock up for you if you want! and it smells s0000 gooood! the reason all those shampoos are so bad are the detergents. but, you know how I feel about hair products.
If you want to splurge, I’d go with anything Aveda.

    natural, natural, natural.

    love,
    your hippie

  8. Miracle Says:

There IS a difference.. trust me. You can go to Cost cutters or Fantastic Sam’s and get the store brand Shampoo all made through Regis and it is pretty cheap. You WILL feel the difference.

A friend of mine told me a story of how they used Pert Plus in Beauty school to give someone a perm. EW!

    Read.IT. Trust me! :)

  9. Trigger Says:

So, I’m a total sucker for Redken. Which is not cheap. But I love it.

If I’m going a more budget route, I like the John Frieda shampoo/conditioner lines. I use their brilliant brunette stuff – I am sure their other stuff is just as good.

  10. Paige Says:

I use one of the Herbal Essences shampoos also, but once we get through our current bottle I’m going to try and track down something that’s cruelty-free. But I haven’t had any issues with Herbal Essences as of yet.

  11. Shaba Says:

Good Bad&Ugly: First thing’s first…is that a vagina in your avatar?

Amy: That’s what I’m currently using. The orange stuff. :-)

Jamie: Random thought. Does tea really grow on trees? For some reason I thought it was more strawberry-like in it’s growing. I’ll have to look into it though.

Jessica: My mother refused to buy that brand. If I bought it she’d tell me, “I better hear you screaming “Yes!” in the bathroom!” She’s a bit odd.

Miss Mariane: Hehe. Ooo la la. I’ve never tried it. As for Twilight, what’s your opinion?

Tristus: Yea, I know you’re an Aveda girl. It’s just so expensive. Boo. Maybe now that I’m an almost grown up I’ll start buying grown up hair products.

Miracle- Wow. You’ve scared me right out of the Walmart shampoo aisle.

Trigger- First of all, I love your name. I added your blog to my reader. Second, Freida hasn’t impressed me, but I may try the Redken stuff.

Paige-Herbal Essences seems to be popular, let me know what you track down later and how it works! :-)

  12. Shaba—no that is a cat nose…but I think it’s cool you think it is a vag….I think it might be Bella’s….. :)

  13. dmb5_libra Says:

i use neutrogena and aveda….aveda i know is designer, but i was sold on it years ago and it reall does work well, and part of the proceeds go to charity, so that makes me feel less guilty about buying a $15 bottle of shampoo.

  14. Maxie Says:

Best shampoo and conditioner ever: Bath and Body Works.

I’ve used lots of designer stuff and it’s by far my favorite. They’re usually on sale for 2 for $10 which is super in my book. I get the volumizing stuff even though my hair is pretty big anyway… I just like it the best.

  15. [...] that I think of it, I’m pretty sucky at updating you all on important stuff. Like what shampoo I went with. Or what went into the holiday basket. Or posting a picture of the Thanksgiving Day [...]
